Rotary 3020 District Rotary International

CHALLAPALLI SURYA RAO was born on 9th July 1957 to Late Sri Rama Rao and Smt. Kanaka Durga. He is gold medalist in Mechanical Engineering and did his Masters in Industrial Management from IIT Kharagpur.

He is managing partner of “M/s Balaji Anodizing and General Industries”, which is involved in anodizing and manufacturing of aluminum and architectural items. He is also currently involved in Property development.

Surya Rao joined Rotary as charter member of R C Vishaka Port City in 1995 and was the president during the year 2001-2002. He is actively involved in the Rotary movement. He held several positions in the district which includes the chairman of District Conference 2010 “Sangamam” held at Vishakapatnam. He is strong supporter of Rotary foundation and has contributed to the Endowment Fund in his father’s name. All his family members are Paul Harris Fellows. He is a major donor and level 2 contributor. He is an active member of two Rotary Fellowship, “Rotary Home Exchange” and “Rotary International Travelling and Hosting Fellowship”.

His spouse Dr. Syamala M.D., D.G.O., is an Asst. Professor in Andhra Medical College, Vishakapatnam. She joined the R C Vishaka Port City in the year 2001-2002 and has been actively participating in the medical camps and assisting Surya Rao in all Rotary activities. They have two children, daughter Sankalpa who is doing her Engineering at GITAM University and son Smaran has completed his Intermediate.

He has widely travelled, visited sixty countries, attended five Rotary International Conventions, Trade Exbhitions and World expositions.
