Rtn. D V R POOSHA, of the Rotary Club
of Peddapuram-Samalkot, is born on
24th Feb 1957 to the illustrious couple
Ramsha and Sirisha. He took his M.Sc.
and PhD degrees in Human Genetics
from Andhra University. Received
training and certification ina Sexuality
Counselling, and Therapy of Sexual
Dysfunctions.
He is currently editor and publisher of the Telugu Sexology magazine
'Abhisarika', being published for the last 62 years.
Dr. Poosha joined Rotary in 1996 and served as Club Secretary, and
President, and at the District level, as Co-chair - AIDS prevention,
Coordinator - Health Concerns, District Training Coordinator, District
Correspondent for Rotary News, Rotary Quiz Master, Assistant Governor,
District Chairman for Membership Development, DGNC Member, Chair-
Annual Giving, District Director International Service, GSE Chairman, and
Director Vocational Service. He has been a faculty and speaker at a number
of district training programs.
In District 3020, he was recognized as Best Secretary, Champion President,
Outstanding Rotarian (twice) and received Rotary Foundation District
Service Award 4 times, among other recognitions.
He has chosen Sexuality Counselling for his professional career and is a
member of several national and international associations of sexology,
Fellow of the Council of Sex Education and Parenthood (CSEPI). Published
a number of research papers in reputed journals, delivered radio talks and
spoke from public platforms on genetics, sexuality & HIV. He received a
Golden Lamp Award from the CSEPI in recognition of his contribution to
the field of Sexology in India.
Dr. Poosha is married to Padmavathi, a postgraduate in human genetics.
They have two daughters - Sirisha who has graduated in Architecture
(Visakhpatnam) & Environmental Planning (Arizona), and Jigisha who is
pursuing Bioinformatics in Switzerland.
